JOHN WHITELAW
John worked in the Building Industry for 36 years and upon
leaving in 2001 he took up Art as a hobby. John’s preferred
medium is oil, and his paintings are in the realist impressionist
style.
John is a member of the Australian Guild of Realists Artists,
and also the Peninsula Art Society, where he has attended classes
with Colin Johnson and workshops with renowned artists.
John works mostly in his studio,
but has also joined a small group of painters to experience “Plein Air” painting,
which is expanding his knowledge of light, tone and colour.
John lives on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, an inspirational
source of coastal and bay views. He has travelled Australia
widely, and in his paintings he endeavours to capture the rugged
beauty of the diverse Australian Landscape. A new challenge
John is enjoying are the cityscapes of Melbourne and environs.
He exhibits, and sells, regularly in Rotary and other Art
Exhibitions, and has been published in the Australian Artist
