Mellady, A.G.R.A.
Lyn
Mellady is past President of the Australian Guild of Realist
Artists (A.G.R.A.) a member, of the Pastel Society of Victoria
and "Brushmen of the Bay". While her personal painting
is her highest priority, she is constantly asked to teach,
judge art shows and has professionally demonstrated her techniques
to many hundreds of artists.
Lyn
Mellady has many awards for both pastel and oil. Her paintings
have been acquired for Sutherland, Campbelltown,
Frankston, Susomo and Nagoya (Japan) government collections. Her
work is featured in Australian art reference books, as well
as local and international art publications.
Her
main love is the language of water in the landscape. But as
a member of Fusion
Six she has produced a 'not for sale' series of
paintings that are now touring Australia's Regional Galleries. Lyn was born in Quirindi, NSW and grew up in Sydney’s Cronulla
beach areas. She has taught ballet ARAD, became a primary school teacher,
then consultant art teacher. Her own artwork emerged and it has become
her chosen occupation since 1981. Today she relishes the challenge of
combining spontaneity with careful technique.
After being finalist in the first International Pastel Excellence Art
Landscape Awards, Lyn was asked to share her painting thoughts which
appear in the Autumn Pastel International Magazine no 14,2002. She is
featured in four art reference books and many art magazines. Four paintings
are in print. There is a limited edition series of graphite drawings
of
Sydney. Five works have been acquired for government collections and
her
paintings are in corporate and private collections on all continents.
She is a councillor of the Australian
Guild of Realist Artists and member of Pastel Artists of Victoria ( where
she has been a major prizewinner in their annual exhibition 5 times in
6 years). Lyn exhibits at Flinders and Sorrento Fine Art Galleries
on the Mornington Peninsula.
