Peter Cartwright

Peter Cartwright was born in 1928. Peter studied under Alan Bernaldo, Max Milski, Max Casey, Ron Crawford and Max Wilks. He has held many successful solo and joint exhibitions in Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, and on the Mornington Peninsula.
Peter makes regular trips overseas and within Australia, recently completing a major collection of twenty paintings for the owners of Tierawoomba Cattle station in Queensland.
His visits overseas are mainly to France and Ireland where he was offered a one month residency at an artists retreat on the Atlantic cliffs of county Kerry, Ireland. Peter completed a commission of six large paintings of the new international golf course known as The Old Head of Kinsale. He was invited to exhibit at the Huntsman Gallery in Waterville with Irish and other international artists.
For artistic relief, he paints historical works. His highly researched painting of the First Official Settlement at Sorrento in 1803 has recently been acquired by the Sorrento Historical Society and is now on permanent display at the Sorrento Historical Museum.
The wild ocean back beach is also inspirational to Peter and he paints regularly at Shelly Beach in Portsea and near Point King at Sorrento. Peter exhibits at Sorrento and Flinders Fine Art Galleries on the Mornington Peninsula.
