Michael Cartwright

After a long time working in Advertising agencies as an art director, all layouts of press adverts, posters and television storey boards had to be hand drawn with coloured felt markers and pentel pens. Some ability to be able to draw was an essential part of the job which couldn’t be done without. Now a long love of watercolor painting started with some lessons on the basics and with much encouragement from family and friends I was able to proceed. Michael studied RMIT life drawing and commercial art. Worked in many advertisting agencies as an art director for many years.
Started to paint watercolors in he 1990’s . Michael started with lessons at Malvern Artists Society and continued with lessons from Malcolm Beatie, who has inspired Michael no end.
